Modern Slavery Statement 2025
This statement is made pursuant to Section 54 of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015. It
outlines the steps that Tootonic Ltd has taken during the financial year ending 31
December 2024 to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in its business and supply
chains.
1. Our Business and Structure
Tootonic Ltd is a UK-based retailer of licensed children’s clothing, accessories, and character merchandise. Headquartered in Swansea, we operate through a multi-channel model, including ecommerce (via Character.com and third-party platforms), a growing network of physical retail stores, and wholesale distribution to selected partners.
Our products are sold across the UK, Europe, and the USA. We work with a range of suppliers and partners in the UK and internationally, with manufacturing operations primarily located in China, India, Bangladesh, Turkey, and other sourcing hubs relevant to apparel and accessories.
2. Our Commitment
Tootonic Ltd is committed to conducting business ethically, transparently, and responsibly. We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, forced labour, and human trafficking, and we expect all suppliers, contractors, and partners to uphold these values.
We believe that protecting human rights throughout our operations and supply chains is a fundamental responsibility and an essential part of maintaining our reputation and customer trust.
3. Our Supply Chains
Our supply chain includes the sourcing and manufacture of clothing, accessories, packaging, and associated retail goods. These goods are primarily produced in India & China, with additional suppliers in Bangladesh, Turkey, and the UK.
We are aware that some regions pose a higher risk of modern slavery due to systemic labour practices, subcontracting, and migrant labour. We are actively working with our suppliers and partners, to maintain clear visibility of our manufacturing sites. Recent visits to key factories in China have supported this process and informed our supply chain strategy for 2026 and beyond.
4. Policies and Due Diligence
We have implemented the following measures:
• Ethical Trading Policy – aligned with the ETI Base Code
• Supplier Code of Conduct – requires suppliers to comply with international labour laws and explicitly prohibits forced, bonded, or child labour
• Whistleblowing Policy – enables employees and suppliers to report concerns confidentially, without fear of reprisal
Our due diligence framework includes:
• Auditing and pre-approval checks for new suppliers
• On-site factory visits and quality inspections (where feasible)
• Requiring suppliers to provide third-party certifications (e.g., Sedex, BSCI)
• Ongoing supplier scorecards and performance reviews led by the merchandising and sourcing teams
5. Training
Modern slavery training is provided to key staff involved in buying and supply chain operations.
6. Effectiveness and KPIs
To evaluate the success of our approach, we monitor:
• Percentage of suppliers audited annually (target: 100%)
• Number of employees trained on modern slavery awareness (target: 100% of applicable roles)
• Number of supplier non-compliance issues identified and resolved
• Adherence rates to our Supplier Code of Conduct
7. Next Steps
In 2025, Tootonic Ltd plans to:
• Introduce a new supplier risk scoring system during onboarding
• Continue direct factory engagement trips with key sourcing partners
• Refresh Our Supplier Code of Conduct
